The French connection

There's nothing wrong with white washers - some people are sticklers. There is a problem with your enclosure though.

...It's too awesome. Those knobs are so sick. Are they guitar knobs that you painted on?

Ha ha ! thank's mate. The knobs labels are print, glued and protected with an epoxy layer, as well as on the entire box...really resistant!
I know, but the pedal i built does not boost...it just increases volume!

Man such awesome builds , the bar is always moven up! really like those knobs you did , and these etches lately have been so clean so professional !

I really haven't built much this year , I wanted to, but to many other things came first. I have a few idea's I need to get put into the real world and will hopefully be able to share them with you guys soon.

original on the left robs on the right , extra custom enclosures one went to rob another going to larry :D

And here's a klon and some enclosures.

the etch was a bit light.

I scuffed it up at little at the end but I'm ok with it.
The etch actually wraps around the sides and back . Even etched the date on the lip inside.

^ whoohooo should be here soon...cheers jim, 8)

looks like the custom boxes may be a bit tougher to etch, i'll still give it a go though...

i'll save it for a 'special' build... nice one. 8)

Where can a guy get an enclosure like that

Nice stuff as always Pickdroper! You must be a rocket surgeon , so clean , could pass for factory made!

Rob , it probably etches about the same as other boxes you've done. My etchant was weak , and it actually looked a lot better when I first got it done. but I sanded it polished it then I had the bright idea of using a buffing pad for metal that was a bit more coarse then I thought. Hope all the stuff I sent ye gets there soon! Can't wait to see what ya do when them submini tubes and giant led!

Oh yeah those pcb's in the pic are going to Larry too.

Jimilee You like them boxes ? PM me ill try to send ya one! Are you in the States ?

Here's a couple photos before it was done.

Dang!  Do you guys punch out your own epic trapezoid enclosures, or is there a source?

Hey Chad, I made those enclosures myself. Jimilee wanted one too and msged me. I can probably make a handful of these and offer em up if you or a few people are interested.

I'd love one, looks great for a Mosrite build.

Mustachio, I tried something that works pretty well when my etches are too shallow or without enough contrast: you can try to rub a permanent ink pad all over the enclosure (I use "stazon" ink). It really brings up the contrast as the ink gather in the dents and small groves of the metal...Just my 2 cents :)

deadastronaut

@jim: cool, that's better i can see it properly on my pc instead of phone...

i quite like the subtlety of it actually...looks nice buffed too...excellent work on those boxes man.  8)

After working on 1590a's, a regular enclosure felt nice and roomy...so much elbow room!

Here's V1.0 of my Aslan drive:

It's not bad.. for my first ground-up circuit. Doesn't really do the crunchy thing so well (the TL071 is a great boost, but doesn't seem to clip so nicely, even with LED clipping). Higher gain setting is pretty nice though.

Hey Armando,

It's a reverse etched acrylic plate.  Basically, it starts as a clear sheet of acrylic, I paint the back of it, then I etch it with all the artwork and lettering backwards so that it will read forward when flipped over.  To etch it, I used a laser engraver.  The laser engraver also cuts out the shape and all of the holes for pots, switch and LED.

what what what? what is this tacky upholstery cloth of which you speak? you mean there is an easier way that I do it?

@ pickdropper - what with the laser doing all the etch and drill, it must be tough sitting back on the lounge tossing back the beers. I dream of my perspex looking like that.
