Rick Holt's Murder One sub mini valve amp.

The cab is a replica of the old Roberts transistor radio that most folks in the UK had in their kitchen in the 60's and 70's. I made it out of MDF as its easy to work then hand painted. A little 8ohm speaker in there.

that's the best looking chipboard I've seen in a long long time.

:) Thanks guys. Yes, maybe Ikea could stock them. MDF is easy to work with, its fine density particles mean you can sand it into shape easily and dont need to fill the corners. Doesn't hold screws too well though, so glue blocks are a good idea. Also, wear a mask when working it, nasty stuff to breath in, not like wood dust.

New version of the Blue Warbler:

I'll post the new schematic and layout soon, but the circuit has had a pretty major overhaul, including a new smaller envelope circuit with better control, a MOSFET dry path, and a depth control that actually works properly. Mine is very slightly different from Jacob's forthcoming project, mostly just a couple different component values, but Jacob's PCB is also going to have a couple extra options on it. The really big things are that the tremolo mode is back on -- no more volume drop! -- and that it now works with a wider range of photocells instead of requiring the VTL5C1. I used a Silonex 7530 here (the same photocell used in many univibe clones) because it looks awesome.

I'm still filming the demo, which I have to finish tonight before I mail this off to Scooter; this is his backup PIFmas present from the gift exchange on BYOC, months late because I couldn't get his real present to fire up.

Blue Box using Tonepad's Caja Azul board layout with a couple  mods. A switch is added to toogle between 1 or two octaves down and an led resistor added. I was originally going for a clean etched look but I left the box in the deep fryer for too long so I ended up wiith the doomsday look. It works with the evil sounds this bad boy box makes.

Really like how that one came out Peter, big fan of the distressed etch... dredged up from undersea. Nicely done!

not exactly a pedal, but I made up a new acrylic jig last night for drilling:

How does it sound with that tiny speaker?

Not as tinny as you might expect. There isn't much if any clean on this, kind of sounds like those old blues recordings where a small amp is being run flat out. Not entirely sure it's running right, might try a tube cricket in there at some point. Still it's a bit of fun.

What tee chic did you use to print the graphics on this great looking babe?
Don't know what to do with a paritculare transistor? Check this website where stompbox pedals are listed by what transistors they use

^ water slide decal + good laser printer + 3 layers of hobby spray varnish on bare enclosure, spray only on top and about a 1mm on edges from top. But I don't think its a strong finish, this is my first waterslide so I don't have much experience with it

Jdansti

Great job for the first time!n looks like you've been doing it forever.

The nice thing about clear coat is you can apply many light coats to get good protection.

^ oh yes you can apply as many coats of varnish as you want but problem to me is that waterside decal does not stick to enclosure very well so  it started to lift around the mode switch and made me use larger washer to cover it. I did actually play (practice) with decal, only the last one of three patterns got on actual box. Maybe on painted enclosure it will stick better, but that on next stomp box....

Schizo910

I always apply some clearcoat on the enclosure first let it dry and apply the transfer. After that three or four thin layers, when I manage to be patient five to seven layers...

lietuvis

^ thank you! I will try next time your method.

Nicest build ever... for me. Normally, I'm not into the esthetics part. I prefer functionality over look, any day of the week. For some reason, I decided to bonker out on this puppy. It's a BMP, simple polished enclosure. Sort of a Silver Surfer motif.

The trimmer adds a little flexibility to the tone section. For those who prefer a certain BMP sound, they can dial it in, and forget about it.
