Thought I'd get a better photo before I sent these off!

Nice!

I remember when you wouldn't even use two colours wire, and now you're even using cloth covered? where'd you get that? (is it cloth covered?)

Hey Ducky!

Evatco up on the Gold Coast has it for a pretty reasonable price, otherwise there is a guy on ebay selling them in 50' spools!
Gosh, they grow up fast don't they!  :icon_lol:
I can't think of anything funny just yet.

Well, I've just finished my very first ever build - so I am super duper proud of it. I've been getting some help along the way from others on the board in another thread. Anyway, it sounded so good that I couldn't bring myself to cut any corners aesthetically; so I took some time trying to make it look the best I could. It's been a steep learning curve!

Nice looking pedal especially for a first build! What circuit is it?

Jdansti

It turned out great, Steve!  Perseverance paid off!   :)

+1.  Looks great "at home" by the Terror.

Sorry, forgot to say - its basically a Pete Cornish G2 with pretty much every mod I could find done to it. The mods brightened it up. I changed the clipping diodes to BAT41's as I liked their sound better. Thats why I named it the Bat-Drive.  :icon_biggrin:

What's the secret to such pretty perf soldering? Mine always ends up a mess though I assume it starts with a nice layout. I have always improvised my layouts as I go ;D

Lots of practice and a good soldering tip. Or get Rick from Frequency Central to do it for you!

Luke51411

I've gotten pretty good a soldering :icon_mrgreen: I think I just need to improve my layout skills though I don't really care as long as the circuit works ;D I've been distracted by vero lately... it seems to help fill the need for instant gratification :icon_redface: I'm about to run out of vero boards and money to buy more so I'll be going back to perf soon out of necessity anyway.

that way really tidies up all the wiring! at first glimpse it looks just like "ins" / "outs" / "earth" and that's it!

don't bother for the power-saver stereo jack trick?

and also i don't think i've ever noticed anybody using a double-nut on the DC socket - neat. people usually stick them all the ay out and i think that looks ugly.

Looks so nice like Frequenctcentral perfs you mentioned.

But I have to say isn't that kind of a waste of solder? And more of a pain to desolder if you have to? That is no assumption of your work practices and build success rate.

Yes it needs a lot of solder lead but i build it only for my own use and don't want to etch pcb for only one build.

I has an FSH! :D

I've wanted this effect for a very long time. Madbean's board and build notes made it easy. It fired up the first time, but as you can see, there are some extra things going on:

First, I had quite a bit of noise from one of the 3080s. So I made myself a little daughter board to use an LM13700 instead, and this really improved the signal to noise ratio.

Buffered bypass! The little piece of perf is just the two "output" caps, a 1uF for buffered, and 220nF for the main circuit (it's a tiny bit higher than stock, but it doesn't really matter because it passes all frequencies anyway).

I jumpered the 10K at the input to avoid signal loss in bypass, and reduced R4 (to 47K) to get a little above unity (it was just slightly below).

Finally, I lowered the threshold by reducing R15 to 10K, so that it works better with single coils, especially my tele.

I'm super thrilled with the art. No idea where the idea came from, but it made me giggle, so there it is.

Awesome work Jon.

I still don't know why the board was designed around the 3080 when the 13700 is much better and easier to get  ::)

Jon. You've inspired me to build the FSH. Did you look into Tonepad's and GGG's versions? If so how what are your thoughts on these alternatives? What size box did you use?
