CNC engraved enclosure.

This is amazing. I've always loved the little boxes, and even moreso with the wood trim.

Always love your work, deadstronaut! Always looks so immaculate & clean & gnarly! You say Eddystones work a bit better for etching yeah? Do you know a Chinese supplier that sells them cheap?

apollo - nice box. can we (or me, at least) see some internal case detail please? I'm interested in your fixing of wood and metal methods.

^ is that engraved or etched?..nice build. 8)

@monksanto:

cheers man,  no i don't sorry..

in the UK eddystones are  all we get hold of...(which is good for us,)

however i did do a chance buy of 10 x 1590b's (round corners) from china on one of the alibooboo type sites

and they sanded nicely...(not as good quality as eddystones) but ok...and cheap.. :)

this:  (not etched, just toner/clear)

I thought that Eddystone were made in the UK, Hammond in the USA though Hammond own both companies now. That's probably the reason for difference in availability on both sides of the pond. Interestingly, I've noticed the presumption by a number of builders that the one they can't get is somehow better. Don't think there's much in it myself though I can't speak about etchability (is that a word?)
Not tried the Chinese versions though I notice occasionally some odd sizes not available in the other ranges and I've not got anything against cheap!

Hammond (a Canadian company) bought Eddystone (a UK brand) in the late 1990's. Most Hammond boxes are made in Taiwan these days. Not sure where Eddystone's are made but most likely Taiwan as well. Seems like Hammond are more readily available than Eddystone in North America and the opposite in Europe.

I have one, new size to Hammond bought from Digikey or Mouser, which is a rel-packaged Eddystone. Maybe a 1590J, some oddball.
