What's the cheapest alternative to modding a Vox V-847?

I know that Fulltone and Analogman, etc..... have kits but is there a cheaper way of getting the same results, like getting an inductor and changing a few components on the PCB yourself?

One more thing, what exactly has to be changed on the PCB to avoid getting a volume drop when kicking on the wah pedal?

Here is a link with a Vox kit switch and instructions for the volume drop http://ckssystems.com/   get a halo inductor from Ariel.com They are nice and come with instructions too..the two mods will make it a sweet vox :D
practice cause time does not stop...

change the 68k input resistor lower it to around 47k to get a close to unity sound with the wah engaged.

for a basic mod just lift one side of the 33k resistor parralel with the inductor and add a 100k pot to the resistor and plug the other side of the pot into the hole the resitor came out of.

ta da

or just fix it to be a 68k and you have a teese wah.  [helps to change all the resitors to metal film but not alot]

I did the vocal mod and it does nothing. I have a pot on mine too. Its 100k linear. I dont notice much change at all =\.

www.ariel.com isnt working.. Where else could someone get a halo inductor...Ive always wanted to try one.

do you have the schematic for your pedal.  if you dont hear much change at all i would say you have a faulty part somewhere the 100k mod on mine does quite a bit of sonic brewery to my wahs enough to cause feedback on otherwise normally mild settings at lower rotation.

but mine goes up to 133k  the vocal mod are you talking about the one at gm arts website???

I just replaced the 33k with a 100k pot wired as a variable resistor.

Aron sells the Yellow Fasel inductor right here on the forum. Many of us have tried it and like it. You can also get a Halo replica from Stuart Castledine. Fulltone doesn't sell parts anymore.

Best bet for pots would be the stock Hotpotz or Propot. Check with Small Bear or Anique Electronics (type "wah" in search field).
