i actually went to guitar center and found this Marshall AVT150 for sale for $265!! so i tried it, it was a used amp and sounded GREAT! no noise at all with the gain all the way to 10! (well i used Monter Cables with it) but i tried a new one and it didnt sound as good, it actually didnt have as much distortion as this one, so i guess it was moddified, anyways im rally happy its my first MARSHALL!! i was wondering if u knew where i could find schematics for it just to see how this circuit works! thansk!

I think Aron meant the schematic was available for $10...

you don't want the schematic.  Its digital.  It will just depress you. And I'm sure its all proprietory, so it wouldnt make a differance.

That's what I thought when I was trying to fix my ART MIDI footcontroller... but I overcame!

arent valve state amps hybrids? tube and solid states? thats wat i was told, tube preamp - solid state poweramp and then a digital FX section? i was actually thinking about changing the tubes for the electro harmonix ones

Not tube preamp.....it's a single tube incorporated into the preamp. I don't exactly have a high opinion of the series (I really think they did a VERY good job on the MG series though...all solid state but they sound really really good).

For what you like (looking at your website), I'd save up for something better...maybe a better marshall...

No offence meant on anything on the purchase, but just giving some advice.

You're best bet is to try a JJ/Tesla ECC83S for the tube, as its a very good sounding tube in most marshall all tube amps (hopefully it carries through here)

You MUST be joking! The MG series was TERRIBLE! They used 1N4001 diodes to ground for the distortion. Horrible.
Early Valvestates used LED's for the distortion alone, I think the AVT's used the preamp tube in much the same way as the Tube Driver.
Either way, they sound a million times better than the MG series, particularly thru a closed back 4X12 ;)
(Do keep an eye on the large filter caps tho, they have a habit of vibrating loose, particularly when they're not hot glued in).

My bad...I mean MGII...the newest ones. I have had an MG15DFX and it's second only to my custom 18 watter. It's distortion circuit is rather complex and uses two real nice sounding JRC4558DD's, and real diodes (1n4148's) fpr clipping. It sounds like feedback loop clipping so I'd venture to say it's (From what it looks like) gain boosters (one for the EQ) surrounding a tube screamer derivitve. I dunno if it's just a fluke, but the amp really sounds amazing and I keep it ALL the time (and sometimes use the preamp which has a pre out (done by me) as the pre for my 18 before the mic.)

Cheers,
