Tranny Pinouts...

Is there anyway to test the pinouts for 2N5306 tranistors, or any tranistors for that matter?  I am so confused as there seems to be two datasheets (Fairchild) that are avaliable for the 2N5306, so if there is a way to test which pin is what  that would be great!

I am building the Scrambler by the way...

Basically a transistor is 2 diodes back to back and you can figure out in what way things go with the diode test function of a multimeter
