So far I have built a few Ts808's and ts9's. I thought about making the turbo ts9 dx but cant find info about it except-

This is from the analogman site:

The TS9DX has the EXACT same circuit as the original TS-9, but the mode switch changes some of the parameters of certain components of the original circuit.

The changes in the circuit for the 4 modes are :

Clipping diodes : there are several sets of diodes on new boards mounted on the control knobs, that are switched by the MODE knob.
Tone Capacitor : There are several capacitors on these new mini boards which are also switched by the MODE knob.
The four modes are described by Ibanez as :

TS9 : The classic TS9, no modifications.
+ : Grittier than the original TS9.
HOT : Crunchier tone with boosted mids, like a wall of 4 x 12s.
TURBO : Powerful, bottom thick sound, like todays modern/alternative guitarists like.

So- Im wanting to etch a ts808 board and make it either a ts9 or keep it as an 808 and add what ever it takes to make it the ts9dx turbo. Im suprised that no one else seems to be making a layout for this added mod. Im sure it would be popular.

Anyone?

Analog Mike has some info about it in his Tube Screamers page at www.analogman.com.   The switch just switches between different input caps and diodes.

I have the TS9DX, personally the stock TS9 posistion sounds almost identical to a stock TS9 pedal.  The other modes on the TS9DX, sound heavier and heavier.  I don't really like the other settings that much.  Too farty lows ro something.  muddy sounding too.

The other modes sound like when you change the input cap value in a Rangemaster pedal.  It seems that analogman "fixes" some things so that the lows aren't as low and wooly/farty.  Never heard a AnalogMAn modded Tubescreamer though.

The first position on a DX is standard TS-9. Then the next three modes keeping raising the clipping threshold for less gain, while also lowering the bass roll-off. Way too much as you've noticed. The last DX I modded I did the standard 808 mods first, and the rest like this:

TS-9 - 808 with 1n4148/1n4002 clipping and stock bass rolloff (738hz).
+ - 808, same clipping as above, with lower rolloff (339hz).
Hot - 808 with green/yellow leds, and 339hz rolloff
Turbo - 808 with no clipping diodes, and 154hz rolloff.

That was for a guy who had a fat strat (dual HB's) and a reg strat. The TS-9 mode was for the fat strat, and the other modes were for his single coil strat.

On a homegrown TS, it's easier to add toggles for bass caps and diodes than to mess with rotary switches.
