Hello, stompbox community. I was thinking on replacing the SPDT switch (wich is impossible to get around here) with a transistor inverter.
Im not into designing yet,  just copying circuits, reading a lot and learning. So i search on the web, but i didn´t found any schematic on the subject.
Has anyone prove this before? Any schematic out there so i could figure it out?

All suggestions are wellcome, and thanks allready.

It depends on what you're switching. If you mean switching DC currents, yes, it works great, although you'll need two transistors to do the two switch sides of a double throw.

If you intend using it for passing audio through the transistor switch, it is quite difficult to get good, non-distorting switching under all circumstances. In general, it's so bad that no one does it, although the techniques are quite well known. That's why you don't find schematics with this technique on the web.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

What about a relay? (Leaving aside its cost) Its the any problen using it?

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

No problem with a relay, apart from the cost AND the current required to keep it on (unless, you use a latching relay.. but if you can't get parts easily, don't go there!). If you use a transformer power supply then the current isn't a problem. You might get lucky & find a WHOLE LOT of relays in obsolete dumped telephone equipment. In fact, some early fax machines have relays in them.

Thanks Paul & R.G. You have been most helpfull.
I hope to be fast-learner so i´ll be soon posting answers rather than questions. (As an additional, let´s hope my answers to be correct!)

Thanks again
