Proper installation of set-screw knobs?

I've lost a few of the blue Radio Shack knobs over the years because the screws vibrate loose, not to mention I have a tendancy to over-turn them in the heat of the moment.

Are there any tricks to keeping these things snug?  Lock-tite?  Flatten the shaft where the screw hits it?  Etc?  I'd like to get some of Steve's new colored knobs but I'm convinced I'm not using these things correctly.

Lok-Tite works great! Be aware there are at least two different kinds. One is for something you may want to loosen in the future(like set screws) and one is for something you will never want to loosen. Also , as you mentioned, you can flatten the shaft for added insurance.
