OT: simple, good sounding DIY mic preamp project needed

I'm about to buy a M-Audio soundcard with 8 line inputs, two of which equipped with mic preamps. I need 6 other preamps to track drums, etc. I'm looking to build something and I'd like to keep it as simple as possible: no transformers, no phantom power and maybe no high-pass filter either, just XLR input with gain to line out. Any recommended schems/projects?

Check out the AMZ Mosfet Booster. It works good for this, but has no XLR input

Check out here. There's two mic preamps that seem pretty easy.

Leave out the phantom power if you don't need it.  Easy to build using a single dual opamp for each input.

the green preamp is a good option.
I build the paia tube preamp and work great.
I f you want some more simple you can find some schematic with a ina103 , ssm2019 , ina217 as input amp and drv134 or ssm2142 as balanced driver.

on the page of rane (www.rane.com) they have schematic of their equipment. ther is a preamp too.
