Unity Gain Issues With The Blue Magic Pedal?

The Blue Magic pedal sounded great tonally tonight with my band,plus it cut through great....1 problem I'm having with it,is that I can't raise the volume control up past about 8 o clock or the pedal is way too loud...I'm able to get alot more overall volume levels out of my other effects pedals except this one...I double checked and I do have an audio taper 100k pot in place for the volume control....There's a point where the pedal volume goes from thin and low output(matching the other effects) level,but then if you turn it up just a bit,the volume goes to blasting loud..

Anyway to knock back some of the overall level on this thing?  The pedal has great tone otherwise! Thanks for any help on this one.

I would suspect a bad pot.
