This has three stages of Joe Davissons "Blackfire" followed by a boost stage with
Ge diodes to ground and a final volume boost stage before the output.
The gain pot has a feedback path, ( ?? )  returning at the final stage also.
Sound is rich and Fat, thinning slightly at higher gains.
Seems to be working well, but please check and tell me if I have
something "wierd" going on here !!  ?

Looks cool. 8)

It's similiar to a Joe Davidson variation on my breadboard that is a Jfet Vulcan stage, a std. Vulcan stage and 2 LED's to ground.  It has the Vulcan squish with a little more edge.  Pretty Ampish IMHO.   :icon_cool:

Hmmm, looks interesting.  I like Joe's stuff.  Very simple yet KILLER sound.  I may have to try this out after I get through playing with op-amps. :D

The connection from middle of gain pot back to the output transistor bothers me !
Without it, it's a kind of "Thin/high Gain" tone but very quiet.
I can't find a mistake, but that "loop" came about by probing with a section of
wire, that "path" brought back all the "guts" and volume .... !!
Perhaps someone will chime in and tell me what's wrong here ?

Ta,

The first set of 390k/100k bias resistors can be eliminated.

Dirk_Hendrik

I would add a cap  between the gain wiper and that 10k resistor to make the bias of the last trannie completely independent of the gain control.

Not necessary but personally I prefer an output buffer or at least an output cap. No need to rely on the fact that the next device in the chain has an input cap.
More stuff, less fear, less  hassle and less censoring? How 'bout it??. To discuss what YOU want to discuss instead of what others decide for you. It's possible...

But not at diystompboxes.com...... regrettably
