please help a simple person

I am trying to do something with the two dod250 boards http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/diagrams/dist_250_lo.gif I have left from GGG.  I saw Fuzz Central's LIQUID DRIVE MODS http://fuzzcentral.tripod.com/liquid.html but I am not sure what to do to add a 4558; in other words does the pin count start with the top left of the IC (PIN 1) moving counter clockwise to the top right (PIN

I know, I am new, I have made two DOD250s so far and I am not hearing what everyone is talking about.  It sounds very fuzzy to me.  I have searched the FAQ and Site for an answer to this stupid question but I guess I am the only one that has no clue .

Will the Liquid drive get rid of the fizz?

On my second 250 build the Gain pot is working as a level pot as well? when I turn it to the left the pedal volume slowly goes to 0 with constaint distortion.

Check about 2/3 of the way down in the DIY FAQ. There are the pinouts of common parts.

Has anyone tried both the dod250 and the liquid drive?  does the OPAMP make that big of a difference in this circuit?

My Gain pot is still messed up, if anyone knows why please put me out of my misery.
