ross comp attack define

I know i could dig on the net for this info but it's so much more easy to just post and reply I think.  I just built a ross comp clone. I am new to compression.  What is the relationship with the 2k attack trim pot?

The 2k trimpot has nothing to do with attack.  It is there to compensate/adjust for the quirks of the 3080 chip.  When misadjusted, you can often hear a "thump" in response to transients.  The 2k trimpot reduces that thump to a minimum.  The so-called "attack" control is somewhere else.
