sorry, yet another rangemaster thread

I am building a rangemaster as per the schematic on tonepad.

I am having problems finding 25uf capacitors.  I ordered some radial 25uf caps from mouser, but they were axial when they arrived.  Mouser kindly refunded my money and let me keep the caps, but told me they didnt have radial ones after all.

Ive also drawn a blank on the digikey catalog.

Would substituting a 22uf be acceptable, and what would it do in terms of sound?  or does anyone know where I can get 25uf radial caps from?

I have 22uf's in mine and they work great!
You could just parallel a 22uf and a 2u2 to get closer !!

I thought about adding something in parallel, but all of my projects end up being a hotch potch of components hanging off the board and generally looking like a butchers garbage can.  I was trying to get this to be my first 'proper' board; etched, good soldering, good case, all correct parts!  Maybe next build.

butchers garbage can pictured here!  That was going to be my solution.

How large are the axials  --can you stand them on end? I do this all the time.

they are too big for that unfortunately,

I have three boards printed up, so I'm going to try 1 board like the picture, one board with the 22uf caps and the last board I'm actually going to try and find 25uf radial caps.

Opinion..you probably won't be able to tell the small difference of these values.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

A 22uf capacitor will not make the slightest difference, I would use whatever you have.

i used two 47uF capacitors, But the RM i built was from geofx.  :icon_wink:

When Aron was helping me debug it, i asked him why he kept referring to the 25uF caps, (i didn't use any 25uF caps,) and he told me that one layout(tonepad) uses 25uf caps and another(geofx) uses 47uf caps.

The same thing happened to me when i ordered parts, i somehow recieved radial caps and needed axial caps, ( i did mine on a terminal strip though)

PS:In my exp, the OC44 transistor sounds the best and closest to vintage RM's tone.  :icon_wink:
