The CE-1 really anticipated a low-impedance output from a keyboard or other low-Z source.  While I have not seen it confirmed, it seems to me that the CE-1 was also intended for mimicking the slow-to-fast change of a Leslie, minus the ramping up and down.  The CE-2 is more oriented towards guitar.

I don't think I've seen the CE1 schematic, but since the CE2 was (and I'm quoting from this page: http://www.rolandus.com/community/bug/summer_01/fb_boss25.html ) "the world’s first compact chorus pedal", it deserves it's place among choruses and all other pedals as well.

I don't care much about first/last, but I've heard good things about it, and not being able to find one for auditioning, I'm going to have to wait until I build one to 'know' how they sound :)

I actually have the schemos for the CE-1 and CE-3, if anybody's interested (email me at tab9@buffalo.edu).

I've never played a CE-1, but the CE-2 sounds great (watery, but not cold).  As good as (but very different than) my other chorus favorite, the mxr stereo chorus (dirty, dirty chorus).  I've been told that the dimension c is somewhere between the two sounds (whatever that means), which is why I'd really like to hear it.

Most of the circuits I build, have had pre-expectations put upon them, provided by listening to sound samples or records.

Does the intensity mod increase the chorus depth or the wet/dry mix?

Mark Hammer

Wet/dry mix.  Some people complain about chorus effects being too obvious, or about the pitch wobble being too distracting.  The intensity mod allows the user to reduce intensity and move the wet signal a little more into the background to have a subtler effect.

Fp-www.Tonepad.com

As always, the best advice is: First build without mods, plan on mods from the start but add mods later, when the unit is known to work.

The idea of a CE-2 with wet/dry mixing is great ! thats why I love my Pearl chorus
pedal as it has this feature.
I have a CE-1 also, and I dont think they sound very similar, though the CE-2 is
supposed to be the CE-1's chorus section with added depth control !
Vibrato on the CE-1 is FAB BTW !

This would certainly be the first chorus pedal i ever have :D But i have to trace my money back from friend to buy the parts, especially the sought after and expensive IC  :icon_evil:

I buy a lot in bulk from all over, but can't possibly use enough of these ICs to justify a bulk buy on my own. If enough are interested, I'll get the MN3101 and MN3007 direct for $4-$5 ea + $1 shipping (USPS). We'll save a bundle on these. If interested, please PM me directly. No $ up front, I'll take care of that. Would like 10 or more to make a "verbal" (PM, email) promise to buy when they arrive.

That was fast. We have enough buyers for the MN3101 and MN3007 at $5 each. Anyone else? Please PM me with the amount you want and your email address.

I'll place the order Monday and I generally receive within 2 weeks. I'll spot test some in my build of Tonepad's PCB and ship those out to you the following day. In contiguous 48 states, $1 flat. Outside US, shipping cost to you will be exact or as close to that as I can estimate. No "handling" fees.

Who is building it right now?

I'm already getting requests for RTS PCBs and I need your help to verify the layout in order to start selling them. I appreciate your help.

in mint condition in the uk would have been around 60 pounds with shipping.

i am not a collector, as long as it works.....it would cost me over 20 pounds in parts to build anway.
