... What can I say... I needed a layout challenge!

Anyways, the Boss CE2 is now a DIY project at tonepad! Same board size and pot locations as the small clone!

Enjoy!

Mark,

I thought you might like that part!

Of course many more mods are possible including the ones on the small clone pdf (stereo mod) but I didn't want to clutter the pages... I mean, just how much information can be packed in a couple of pages!?

:)

Looking forward to hearing from the first who builds it.

Fret Wire

Good job! I'd been thinking about doing that layout for awhile....thank god you did it. Nice compact layout, should fit in a 1590b. I think this is going to push some other projects to the back burner...it's my favorite chorus (I have two of em).

One question FP: The 11v zener....wouldn't a 1N400X series work fine? Wasn't the 11v zener used due to the 12-14v unregulated ACA power supply of that era?

Fretwire, I think you're right. With a 9.6V supply it should be the diode in series.... You may want to check the other schematics for this pedal (available online).

Looks fantastic! Just one question though: What are the colorcoded arrows in the schematic/ on the board?
Red must be v+
I'm guessing orange is Vref (V+/2 right?)
But what is pink?

Again I must congratulate you on your layouts, the pdf packages and everything. It just works! :icon_cool: :icon_cool: :icon_cool:
Much admiration,

Awesome.

I own an original. One of the best chorus pedals out there.  I will build one anyways.

             Thanks, Garrock

Tonepad rulezz my world!!!

YeS !!! More fun, excellent modulation device choices !!!
For those like me, who are only vaguely aware of Boss Chorus 'histories'...[which one is the 'one' ]opinions etc.[ ...which one does 'what' as far as depth and type of chorus...I must search and read reviews...
I like reading, and revere the forumite reviews and desctriptions, as these are generally quite concise and inclusive !!!

FP,

What can I say, other than...WOW!  That is impressive.  You are the master of miniscule!

With all of those bass mods, I have got to build one now.

Ok, the compliments are getting out of hand now  ;D

Thanks all for your kind words, the DIY comunity has done so much for me that it's always a pleasure to keep giving back.

As soon as anybody builds this one please let me know, I need to have this project verified and start offering Ready To Solder PCBs for those of you who can't/don't want to make one.

Of course I would love to build one myself, but I just can't right now (and for a few weeks!), so any help on that regard I'd greatly appreciate it (even if it's only going thru the layout/schematic searching for errors).

Thanks!!!

This is great!  I'll keep an eye out of the boards to be done.

The ce-1 is much coveted... but some say it's actually a better design for keyboard.  For instance, the level knob effects the overall volume, not the dry/wet mix.  I've heard that it's based on the Roland JC-120 amp's on board ciricuit.  The ce-2 was the follow up.  Very nice and warm.  The ce-3 came next.  It was in stereo (which is nice), and the circuit design is basically the same, but they did something to make it cold and thin.  after that you have all the digital stuff.  oh, and a couple of rack-mounts (ce-100??) and the dimension c thing with the four buttons... which I hear sounds awesome.  Anyone have a schematic for that?  I'd love to hear it.  How does it compare to the ce-2?  anywho, hope I didn't get anything wrong.
