Which chip for ringmod-1496 or AD633?

I'm thinking of building a ring mod, and right now I've got a couple of MC1496 balanced modulators. Heard the AD633 is supposed to be good too.
Basically I'd like to hear peoples experiences using either of these: any advantages/drawbacks? Best carrier suppression?
I can read a data sheet, but that doesn't mean I understand it all  :icon_redface:, and maybe there are tips/tricks to get any of these to work..

Any input?

I'm having "fun" with MC1496. That's just a Gilbert cell (5/7 matched transistors) packed in a box. I tried to do a ringmod following the application notes and the data sheet, but i had not much success. Well, the modulation was fine, but I never plugged a guitar signal in: I did some tests with sine - triangle - square waves. Nice pics into the oscilloscope, though.
I have no experiences with AD633, although havinga couple of them somewhere at home...

The MC1496 needs careful biasing in order to work well. That's why designing a ring mod with AD633 of MC1495 should be easier. Should.
