I finished a BSIAB II and a Tube reamer a couple of months ago and used some different box finishing techniques (different for me that is ;)).  Finally got round to photographing them.

For the BSIAB we took a hi res photo of a Hershey's chocolate bar, then used photoshop to remove the logo and put in my desired lettering.  We played around with font beveling and shadows in an attempt to make it look like the letters were carved into the chocolate (just like the Hershey's logo).  We then printed the picture on 4x6 glossy photo paper, cut it to size, and glued it to the aluminum using Modge Podge water gased glue.  To finish it off, I sprayed clear acrylic over the whole box.

For the Tube Reamer, I user sticker paper I bought at the local art supply store.  This sticker looks like copper colored, recycled paper.  I cut the sticker, stuck it directly to the aluminum, and then applied the lettering using an ink stamp with white or off white ink.  Again, finished it off with clear acrylic spray.  Yun has a recent thread with some swirl paper that looks really cool.

These stickers are probably intended for scrapbooking, but they have some really nice ones made to look like metal with rust, patina, etc.  The sticker paper is from a company called Mrs Grossman's, here are some of the metalic samples:

Let me know if you have used similar finishing techniques and if you have any other comments.

i like the BSIAB 2!! When i first looked at it, I thought the top  was 3 dimensional. And i am still uncertain if it really is 3 dimensional!!  :icon_neutral:

UNIQUE!!!

Hgggghh(slobber)... chocolate...

Thats brilliant, Erik.  Mr. Goodscreamer?  3 Muffketeers?

I've used a stompbox for a couple years with the photo paper decopage technique, and it blows my mind its held together.

Thanks for all the comments!

Yeah I get chocolate cravings every time I look at the BSIAB too.  It is 2-D, just the light and shadow on the picture gives the 3-D illusion

Steben,
The LED is 5mm with a chrome bevel.  I think the weird angle of the photo and the fact that the glass is blue on that one makes it look bigger.
