well I modded my Crybaby a while back ( hadn't used it much 10 years ) and recorded the band I play in last weekend, ( to get some sound bites for our website ) and managed to get a great clip of it ... I love this wah now!

I did Paul Marossy's mod, ( thanks Paul!!! ) except for the sweep cap, added a yellow Fasel and true bypass.

here's the mod: http://www.diyguitarist.com/DIYStompboxes/WahMod.htm

This is one of 2 songs that the guys let me sing ;)

The other pedals on for the solo are my TS808 clone ( modded slightly ), Fatboost clone, and Memory Lane delay ...

Cool, I'm glad that works well for you.  :icon_cool:

EDIT: BTW, Stuart Castledine really deserves credit for this more than me since his website is where I got the info I needed to mod mine.  :icon_wink:

BTW, I like that lead guitar sound. Very nice.

playing solo's that good takes the focus away from the great sound of your pedals. Nice job!

Actually, I haven't tried it! ... I'll do that, I'm sure it's fine though. I haven't been excited about a wah in years!

:icon_mrgreen: .... I nthink I'll hook one up to my acoustic and give it a try :) .... that would be cool! ... I only play about 25% electric in this band ...

WOW!!! Great sound.....Great song.....Great playing. I'm curious though, how much did the Fasel change the sound from the original? I've been kinda skittish about the Fasel thing. After listening to the great sounding clip, there might be some molten solder being slung inside my Crybaby this weekend.

BTW, thumbs up to rest of your crew on the clip.

Thanks, hmmmm well to tell you the truth the fasel was the last thing I put in and I didn't listen to it before to really get a feel for the difference. It's probably not night and day but I'm very happy with the overall tone ... I'm modding it again with a red fasel as well and a switch to use the yellow or the red. I'm curious as to the difference :)

Thanks for the compliments ...

The tone differences between inductors are somewhat subtle to begin with. Not all Fasel wahs sound great, and some do - just like anything else in the guitar FX world.

I'm didn't think the change could be all that drastic, but have never really had a chance to get comparisons. And even though changes sometimes aren't drastic, many times it's the little nudges that end up getting us to where we wanna be.

I'd be curious to hear your impressions of the differences between the yellow and red Fasels Melanhead.

Been messing with mine for a few days now. Huge improvement with the sweep cap change. Also changed the 1.5K for a little more low end response. Those two changes alone really made an improvement on my Crybaby. Messed with the resistor across the inductor too, but didn't seem to change much according to my ears. Still was well worth the time, got me a whole lot closer to what I was looking for. Haven't been using the wah for quite some time because of the way it sounded. It has been way too thin sounding since the day I got it. It was more of a "wicka wicka" sound, now it's much fuller sounding. I've closed it back up, gonna use it for a while and see if there are any further changes I wanna make.

Screaming Solo

sounds great i'm definatly going to do these mods in addition to installling true bypass (wah suck up so much sound)

i see two electrolytic caps in there, could it be even nicer sounding if i swapped them out too in favor for some metal film caps?
