i just found this old thread, following a suggestion by niftydog: Nice freebie tutorial on op amps, construction,etc.  the thread seems to be locked so i am making a new post because the recommended tutorial on op amps looks really helpful for beginners, it's been updated since that post, and there was a recent question about biasing.    here's an updated link to the TI publication "Op Amps for Everyone" by Ron Mancini.

i hope some others find this as useful as i do.

thx for the reminder on the TI publication (464 pages) - just ordered new printertoner to finally have it in hand - after printing out the Philbrick- manual yesterday (121 pages) from the other thread...
