To repair an existing effect or to clone one?

These babies are rare and getting rarer.  One of the sentiments expressed often around here is that it is wiser for the community to reserve the few remaining MN3005's for repairing existing units as much as is possible, and use something else when building from scratch, whether clone or completely new pedal.  Besides, you can buy a Princeton digital chip like the PT2399 for a fraction of the cost and make decent-sounding delays with the same delay time, and very similar tone.  That's not a scolding, just an idea for wise use of a scarce resource.

Steve CAN find them for you, but there ain't a lot, they don't come in every Friday, and they aren't cheap.

Yes, I am a newbie to the DIYstompboxes.com community, however a long time tech (15 years) and musician (20+ years).
I have been researching this for a while, but thought I'd get an "updated" view on the current status of the MN3005 deficiency abroad.
Thanks for the info.
Smallbear is the cheapest at this point. I was hoping to find cheaper.. perhaps to buy several in bulk.
