I've been going nuts looking at my breadboard, wondering why it wasn't working, posting on here asking about how I could have fried my TL072, and was just about ready to get out the meter for some in depth help, when I realized... My breadboard's +ve and -ve strips on the top and bottom are not connected, so I wasn't giving the whole circuit power...

Heh... what's even more fun.... breadboarding a circuit just to have it not work.... then figuring you'd go ahead and perf it.. and it works perfectly. Maddening.

man you dont even need to be a noob.  I spent HOURS going crazy, to realize that I had turned off my power supply when changing opamps and never turned it back on.
