Hi everybody, I'm a very newbie to making stompboxes so I need your help with this!!

I'm planning on building an A/B box according to the fulltone schematic, but I want to integrate a seperate stomp switch to allow me to switch between 2 channels. 1 of them going to a tuner, then other going through the effects chain then to the amp.

Here's where I need help:
-How do I combine both in 1 box? (signal routing/wiring to go from 'out' of a/b to 'in' of channel switcher)
-How do I run both A/B box LEDs and the channel selector LED (Only lit when muted for tuning) from the same power supply?

A little off topic, would I be better off having a buffered bypass tuner (Boss TU-2) in the chain (rather than truebypass via channel switcher) to help drive the signal to the amp?  I will be using  20 ft cable from amp to pedalboard, and 33ft (coiled bullet cable) from the pedal board to guitar. All my other pedals are TB, except for an EQ which will be before the A/B box, as I only use it with 1 guitar (resolectric).
If it helps, I will be using all 3PDT switches in the project.

Thank you so much, I've gotten so many answers reading tons of posts, you guys are a HUGE help!!!

I am not sure if I am understanding this correctly, but couldnt you just have two a/b boxes in series?

Just to make sure I have this correct. You want an A/B output with a tuner mute? So one input and three outputs: A, B, and tuner?

As to the buffer. You will lose some high end. Heck, you are probably going to lose high end on the 33 foot cable. You could put a simple buffer in the A/B pedal and just not worry about it ;)

The TU-2 would also be a solution and would make the A/B a simple A/B.

I quite often run 40 feet to the amp, but I play bass and don't worry about high end loss!

Hi guys, sorry I should've specified.

The A/B box is for running 2 guitars into 1 amp with a tuner mute along the way. I guess it is basically 2 A/B boxes in a row... (I'm a newbie, these things take a while to register...:)

Here's a little drawing that might help.

I'm using 3PDT switches, so no millenium bypass. The stomp on the right is the tuner mute, for which the LED lights up only when it's muted. Can I connect all 3 leds to the same power source without having humming problems?

And as you mentionned seanm, about a buffer, how would I go about adding a buffer before the line out to amp after the tuner mute?

Thank you so much,
J

No problem with the leds.

For the buffer, just put it right before the output jack . You do not need to buffer the tuner.

For the actual buffer, go to http://www.muzique.com/ click on lab and click on basic buffers. I would probably go with the FET based buffer with the 2 resistors to get Vr. But if you prefer opamps, they actually make better buffers. The opamp will be unity gain, the FET will have a small loss.
