It's nothing fancy or difficult, but it was great fun, AND IT EVEN WORKS!!  It's an LPB-2 clone.  Only six on-board parts, but it does what it's supposed to do.

It took the better part of the day, including drilling and painting the box.  I know it's only a very simple circuit, but I couldn't be happier.

Just wanted to share my excitement!!!

Now that you have one of the perfect "1st pedals" under your belt, the big question becomes which one next?  :icon_wink:

PS: if you want to post some baby pictures, please go right ahead!

I guess it's too late to warn you to stay away while you still can.  You WILL become hooked on this.  You WILL modify your already-purchased pedals.  You WILL make ten or more distortion pedals searching for *that sound*.    :)

Congratulations on getting it right on your first try, and welcome to the forums.  You'll have fun.

Go away. Sell the soldering iron. Plant daisies in any Hammond boxes you have. Make jewellery out of your spares box components. You are on the slippery slope to audio hell. You will never again appreciate another commercial stompbox, you will subconciously think of how to mod the bass roll-off, increase the gain and apply better decals. Even when you buy a microwave. You will sneer at non-switchcraft jacks and predict how long the switch will last. And dont get me started about knob placement.

Congratulations, welcome to the forum and I hope you have many hours of frustration alleviated by ten seconds of clarity  :icon_lol:.

"Get out. Go on. I've opened the door for you, yeah? If you don't wanna make it, go now. Yeah? Save us all a bit of time, yeah? If you don't think you can cut it."

Sorry about that, but I couldn't resist. He sure uses 'yeah' alot.
Anyway enjoy building a nice selection of effects.

Thanks for the welcome, guys!!!!!  I'll try to get a photo up tomorrow, if you promise not to laugh!!!!!

I've always been kind of a "tinkerer", so I guess I couldn't help myself.  I'd been wanting a clean boost for a while, but I just couldn't see laying out $100+ for $2 worth of parts.

I think some kind of tubescreamer clone is in my future.  My Main OD is currently a Bad Monkey, but that could change.  Oh yeah, there's a coupld of Dano minis I wouldn't mind re-boxing either  ;)

I'd been lurking aroung this forum for a while, and I wouldn't have done this if it weren't for you guys.  Thanks, I think!

Welcome to the club, my friend! I'm really glad for you! Building pedals is an emotionally rewarding hobby indeed. :)

Hal

The dano rehouse is actually probably a harder project than the tubescreamer clone :-D.

No one will laugh at the pictures.  They dont laugh at mine (look at the first post on the pictures thread) Unless you spent like $50 on parts for a pedal that looks like that.

Protone,

How did you make the label ?  Labeling is something I know nothing about.

no kiddn ... My first box was way oversized and no paint.. It was the same boost. I used it once or twice and took it apart for parts.

That looks GREAT!  :icon_cool:

My first pedal looked like a joke, in comparison.

Thanks, guys - glad you like it.  I'd been reading a lot both here and at General Guitar Gadgets.  I pretty much followed the suggestions there about painting.  Sanded the box, 2 coats of paint, and 30 minutes in the oven (don't think I"ll do that again - I'll get a toaster oven or something - my kitchen still stinks :icon_redface:).

The label was easy.  I had some decal paper left over from a guitar building project.  I made the label in MS Word and printed it on the decal paper.  One edge lifted a little bit, but some thin white glue took care of that.

I can't wait to give the pedal a good workout.  We have gigs coming up of Wednesday and Saturday, so we'll see.......

Cool, that looks alot better than my stuff! I've got tuna and pineapple cans and various flimsy boxes, because I don't want to buy them. But I really should take the time to make them look good. Welcome!

Hey a great first pedal. Congratulations...and welcome to the forum.
