Clean Octave Down

The approach used in the Korg octave down is pretty good, but still isn’t clean.  At least it retains some of the timbre of the input signal though (and its dynamics), but the output signal is still distorted.

Essentially you have a full cycle of input signal followed by a period of silence equivalent to the time period of the full cycle (the input signal is chopped at half its frequency by itself) which you could view as a distorted square wave, ie (distorted) mark - space - (distorted) mark - space etc.  So it’s easy to see that the output isn’t going to be clean.

On the wound strings the Korg sounds a lot like a bass pushing the limits of an amp so you get that slight growl, but it sounds less convincing on the upper strings IMO.  Close but no cigar?

but keeps the dynamix, without needing
an envelope-follower and a VCA...

Yeah, that's the really clever part about it!  :icon_cool:

Anyone know of a website showing problems on the net?  I found one but couldn't make any sense of it.  Just had an online chat with an AOL technician and they said everything was fine their end...then he started asking how much line-rental I pay for my phone!  :icon_rolleyes:

this time it seems to be a real serious (intermitting, though) www. problem.

the "forums" concerning my provider, (the largest in this country), are off lately, too.

strangely enough, the stompboxforum worx well, and builds up quickly here...

I have been getting a huge amount of spam from people I have emailed in the past with strange attachments, I havent opened these atachments. They have subjects like "smtp error" "registration confirmation" "is this your email please check the attachment" etc. I even got one from the tonepad.com domain. I have only emailed FP once!

Have you guys opened any of these attachments?

If you are using windows then DO NOT open unknown or unscanned attachments. Either someone has an email worm that is trying to spread to you or your address has been harvested.
