This page lists only "lin->lin" and "lin->log" pot conversions. What if I want to make a log pot a smaller value? how much would the simple "lin->lin" trick funk up the taper?

The resistor trick already messes up the taper, it's not perfect. And the resistance is not constant as the knob is turned. Those issues aside, it will probably work alright with the linear values, since you're keeping the original taper.

Sorry, I should have made it more clear:

"What if I want to make a log pot a smaller value?"

EDIT: I should have read more carefully, sorry again. :) Thanks.
