I found a broken record player and got the amplifier out of it. Its has 2 identical seperate channels with BC149b, BC158a, AC187k and AC188k. So i got 2 of each.

Is this an interesting find? Or a bunch of old crap?
what can i do with it?

The AC188 is supposed to be close to the AC128 which is one of the preferred Ge Transistors for a fuzz face.
I have a few of them, but still haven't used them.

If you google "NTE Cross Reference", you can plug these numbers in, and it'll tell you basically what you have. There's also a great transistor general data reference on the "Links" page of this forum. The NTE data base is very general, and tells you what group your transistor falls in, and gives general data for that group of "like" transistors.

A lot of phono preamps are close to being useful for guitar boosts and fuzzes. Before pulling parts, trace a schematic.

the schematic was pasted inside the chassis. so i've got it. i'll make a scan of it when i've got the time

good stuff...the ac187's, iirc, are the NPN version of the ac188's....the ac188's tend to be a "hotter" version of a ac128...
