Hi all,
A guy at my job was unloading a bunch of music equipment.  I grabbed the noted lap steel for $50
and the delay for $15.  I hope I made good purchases.  I know the delay is worth $15, but is the lap steel worth the $50?  It came in a case with the legs that go into the bottom.   I never played one, but I thought the price was right.  Any comments?

Peace!

A quick search reveals that the lap steel was definitely the better purchase/deal of the two.  I see prices of $350+.  Give a listen to any David Lindley recording and you may find some inspiration to learn to love the thing.

Bloody hell Arn! How jealous am I!

I don't know if you remember me but we've been in contact before, it's good to see you around again;)

Arn,
sorry to break the news to you, but the lap steel is worthless !  BUT...out of the "goodness" of my heart, i will offer to buy it from you for your full purchase price of $50...of course, you'll have to pay the shipping cost. :)

seriously...great deal !

Thanks gents for the replies!
I hooked it up last night, tuned it to an open "E" chord and used my finger slide .  Wow, this thing is great!  I never played one before, but I can feel the blues on this baby!  Wonder why mostly country is played on these?  this thing rocks for any slide work.   I have to pick up one of those proper slides for it and a set of new strings.  The keys need slight tigtening.  But that is all it needs.

I haven't tried the dod delay yet,  4 days off work, I will find the time.

Peace and Happy Thanksgiving!

Ps  Hello to you Jacien!!!

a few suggested tunings to try...

blues tunings....

open E
drop D
DADGAD
DADF#AD

for country...

C6

E9

also, on your left hand, you can use the fingers "behind" the slide to bend the strings, giving you more of a pedal steel type effect...
