MartyMart

That's looking good slacker  :D  nice work !
It's about the same size as mine, which is in a 1590BB
you've got it "down"  !

As promised heres my attempt, I havn't labelled the components yet, just thought I'd post it in case anyone can spot any glaring mistakes. It should just fit in a 1590BB my big muff vero layout is the same size and that does.

What can I say? You guys are great. What a nice layout....  as soon as the values are up I'll build it !!

Time to look for the "veroboarding for nerds 101" posts :icon_mrgreen:.

Xavier, there are loads of layouts in the Gallery above, just have a look at some of mine
and Dragonfly's along with the schematic .... you'll get the idea and its not THAT hard to do :D
Getting them all "drawn up" takes time though !

Cheers,
marty.

Nice one!

I would add a volume knob; this unit can get pretty fuzzy at high drive settings but without a volume control the volume gets a bit too high

I made mine into a "three knobber"
Gain/BMP tone stack/volume
Just take the "out" point and use a standard vol wire up, rather that the last
resistor to ground on the schem.
I didn't want to "squeeze" 4 knobs on a 1590BB  !

cheers for the comments guys :) This is probably the first real contribution I've been able to make since I started hanging out here, it's nice to be able to give something back.
Anyway here's the labelled version, hopefully it all makes sense, the values are off the scanned schematic from the schematics page.

Anyone got any soundclips of this? It looks quite interesting, I might actually build it :)

Bernardduur

Listen to Jeff Beck's "Blow by Blow"; the whole album is full of sound samples of this unit ;)

I was listening to Blow-by-blow last night. I wonder if this will really sound that good? Mine is kind of raspy BUT I have the master volume mod in mine.

Looks good. might have to build this one too..
One thing, that schem is pretty scatchy to read....

base to emmitter Q1 to Q2 that reistor is it 190k?

aron

I have a clone, but the original did not have the master volume so it's a booster and therefore relies on overdriving the amp.

lowstar

aron, which value pot did u use for the mastervolume ?
cheers,lowstar
effects built counter: stopped counting at 100

It looks like 150k to me, the schematic is a pretty big file if you zoom in on it it's actually easy to read.
I noticed a slight error on my layout, the 25uF to the collector of Q3 should be an electrolitic, I've changed the layout accordingly. You might need to hit refresh to see the newest version.

Bernardduur

Yes, that sounds like mine ;)

Try lowering the gain and raising the volume for a clean boost
The opposite for a "real" OD

Yep, that's my clone sample. Built it so long ago....

aron

I probably used a 100K pot. Like I said, it's been years.....

Bernardduur

OK, I never checked my version with the schematic, but when I checked back some pics I took when I rehoused the unit (original has such a huge box) I noticed the gain pot is only 2.2k, not the 10k on the schematic.....

Here, check it out
