I'm going to switch the site to another host next week, somewhere around the 17 or 18. This will mean a few days transition time as the DNS servers get updated.

The forum performance has been decent but the current hosting support has been declining.

Good luck with the move.  Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for the news.

Thanks for the forum. I don't know where I'd be without it.

I think I have a plan. I will lock this forum at some point and put a thread pointing to the new forum's direct URL.

After a while, you won't have to use the direct URL and diystompboxes.com/forum will point to the new forum. That way no messages will be lost.

Am I the only one who is thinking, O no not AGAIN?
Why, this place is functioning, really fast, and really well. Atleast for me.

I do appreciate all your efforts Aron, and trust your motives for needing to change to a new forum.

But Why?

The current hosts seem great, atleast from an end user perspective.

Please, humour me.

What specifically about the support has been lacking?

No, I'm thinkin' the same thing. However, if it's for the better, then I say "do it!"  :icon_wink:

As an end-user, I also think the forum has been running great.  Trouble is, all I do is log on, lurk around, and then throw in an inane comment or two here or there.  Aron & Peter are standing there behind the curtain pulling all the levers, and if the thing is turning into a PITA for them, that is not good for any of us, even if we don't feel it right away.  So if Aron says the forum is going to a new host, then migrate with him I will, and with a big dumb grin on my face, all the while yelling, "Captain, My Captain!"

I have this host for one year. If the new one has problems we can always come back BUT, I do need tech support to report to. Since the last time the forum went down, I haven't been able to "talk" to tech support. There's no forum to report to, there's no one on the online chat, and there's only an email address and they haven't replied in weeks.

hmmmmm....

Steben

Yes it's a bit like cars isn't it?
You're smitten on a model and start mocking around when it's revised into a new one...until you drive thàt one and realize it's even "more to be smitten on".  :D

I wouldn't even consider a host if they don't offer any support. I have been using simplehost, and they have been pretty good to me and reliable, too.

I sense a broken record loop going on, but I really can't let myself not say a big thanks as well, so thanks!
