I've got a purple limited edition crybaby, and i love the way it sounds!!!! However I've always wanted an led on it so I can make sure it's turned off when i'm playing live. So as i started researching adding an led I came across this page (http://members01.chello.se/pastorn/fx/mods/dunlop.htm) with info on making it tru bypass........if it'll make it sound better then i'm game right? I'm already sold on the led and tru bypass part but what advantages would removing the buffer have over leaving it in. Like i said before, I love the way this thing sounds and I'd hate to change it alot.........so I guess the question is, how much will removing the buffer change the wah tone if any????

Also I found this while searching the forums, http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=39357.0
I'll be using a 3pdt so should I hook it up like this or would there be a better way to do it?????

Thanks in advance.

Ok!!! I just got finished removing the buffer, adding the led, and making it true bypass. Here's the problem. Everything works great untill I put the led in the mix then I don't get any sound at all. now here's the weird part......when the led is hooked up it behaves like it's supposed to, turns on with the pedal and responds to a plug being in the input jack, but i don't get any sound. Please help, I've always gotten great advice on here.
Thanks in advance.

If you have it wired like that diagram you should have no problems.  So odds are you don't have it wired like you think you do.  Double check.

Everything was connected properly, but it turned out to be a bad resistorin front of the led. It was causing the whole circuit to ground out........doh!!!

At least I got it fixed now. Although I'm still unsure wheather taking the buffer out did anything to the sound.

Buffers and wahs can be mysterious and if you're also using a fuzz it can get real problematic.

High quality buffers are very nice things.  Bad buffers are awful.  I don't know where the Dunlop buffer falls on the scale.

Just trust your ears.

I personally don't thing anything is wrong with the input buffer on the CryBaby. In the case of the CB-95 circuit, I would rather have an input buffer than not have one.

Do you get any popping noises while switching with that LED installed? I've thought about adding an LED to mine, but I don't want any problems with popping noises...

No pops at all. however, I am going to put the buffer back. The wah still sounds good, but for some reason it sounds like it's been neutered. No bite at all!!!! like I said it doesn't sound bad but it's not what I want.

The led works great and so did making it true bypass. The buffer is going back in today. I didn't have any trouble with pops, so I'd say give it a shot and hook it all up before you drill a hole in the pedal, and then if it work w/ no pop, drill the hole and mount the led. If it pops just put it all back together. No harm, no foul.
