Vulcan drive problems... calling Mr. Spock

I just finished a vulcan drive and I am having a problem with the 3rd gain stage. The first 2 collectors are at 4.5v but the 3rd is at 9v. I tried a 10k and 100k trimmer with the same effect. I don't seem to be able to vary the voltage enough on the last stage. There is no sound coming out after the 3rd stage. If I tack a jumper before the diode between stage 2 and 3 (and then to the output potentiometer) I can get sound (Actually sounds pretty good and has plenty of gain). Has anyone seen anything like this or have I just not found my wiring problem in the 3rd stage?

Got it. Must have "baked" the 1k on the last stage. I replaced it and we are up and running. This thing has a "ton" of gain!
