i've never built a stompbox before and i need some help.
i want to start out with a simple footswith like you'd find when using a Fender Deville,...just something to switch between normal/drive, and then when in drive to switch between drive/"moredrive." does anyone out there have a simple schematic that i could follow? i was also thinking about housing it in a cigarbox, any comments on that? yeah, so anyway. i need some help here. thanks.

Hi!  I would recomend a hammond style enclosue available from small bear.  It will be alot sturdier and you want it to last a lifetime.  You can get all of the parts from steve.  It would be an easy build but I dont have a schem.  A parts layout would be great for this project since you are starting out.  You can use the search function and probably find a great layout.  Good luck!

Hi.
As a beginner, yo might want to make a box with two switches.  One for normal/drive and the other for low/high drive.  Assuming that your amp already has an input for low drive, all you need for that option is to re-route your signal to that socket.  For the high drive option, you'll also send your signal to the overdrive socket, but first send it through a distortion or booster circuit (like the beginners project) for some extra grunt.

Keep asking questions.  Also, it helps if you let us know what gear you have.  (eg valve or transistor amp)

i've got this old fender 4x10 deville. i bought it for $150 from a friend of mine, but it didn't have the footswitch with it. i've seen the footswitch that comes with it: it has two switches; one to switch between normal/drive, and then another to switch between drive/boost. a schematic would be awesome! thanks for the help so far.

I'm not sure how the footswitch is wired. If you could borrow one, we could probably figure it out with a meter. Take a look at the plug at the end of the footswitch and take note if it's stereo etc...

There are schematics for the Deville around. Do a google for it and I'm sure you will find it. There is schematic for the footswitch on the amp schematic.
