I think that this board includes...

Demeter Compulator
2 Tube Drivers
G-2
P-2
2 DDL's (one is T.E.S. for sure)
modified GE-7

No chorus, vibe or phaser. I suppose he uses a rack for those. One or more of the switches could be remote on/off for rack stuff.

no one ever

From memory, I recall 2 rack vibes (each with slow / fast toggle switches) and a variety of unlabeled rack thingamajigs.

Never seen a rack vibe before... anybody have a reference as to where he got his?

AFAIK it's a custom job (by guess who...), rehousing a regular Univibe in a rack case, most likely adding some magic buffers and remote switching etc...

Probaly this board will include some send/returns like this one used in 2001-2004 shows (when he used e.g. MXR DDL II or Digitech IPS-33B)...

For '94 tour his rack was fitted with Uni-Vibe (in rack with one mode - slow and fast speed knobs) and Dynacord CLS-222

is there any real difference between rackmount and stompboxes aside from the fact that rackmount is hidden away in the cases and stompboxes are o the ground? is it just kind of for people who have subtle effects and dont like the clutter of pedals?

Mark Hammer

In some instances, the rackmount approach to some things will be the result of having either more switching options, an improved power supply, more patch or insert options, and a couple of other bells and whistles.  The core effect circuit may well be the same but the added things permit it to interface better with everything else.

You might note as well that once everything goes into a rack box offstage, it becomes easier for roadies to trouble shoot things.

I racked a Deluxe Memory Man, and will soon be racking a Neovibe and a DMM together.  It gives you the chance to improve the power supply, improve shielding/grounding, have shorter cable lengths, and lessen the chance of accidentally moving controls.  And for those with pedals in their rack, it takes up less space.

In general, stompboxes are designed for instrument level high impedance (guitar) signals. Rack effects are usually low impedance line level. If you want to rackmount a stompbox and use it in the effect loop of the amp you probably need to add a buffer before it, take the signal level down to instrument level and then a gain stage after the effect to bring the signal level up again.

Lastly I'd refer you to the lounge thread about the $24 footswitch - check the stompswitches Pete uses and tell me how much they cost each ?

Which thread you mean?
I tried searching but I couldn't find anything...

Looks like it's finished.  The smaller switches in-between make a lot more sense now.

You know you've made it when you have five HiWatt 100's listed under Accessories.   ;D
