Hello, I have made a YAFF pedal and I am looking for a good second project.

Any suggestions which will be slightly more difficult but not too hard?

Thanks in advance,

Mark.

This question gets asked all the time.

To make a good recommendation its always good to know what kind of music you want to make, or play.

I dont know what a YAFF is.....

Something simple like the EA trem at www.runoffgroove.com makes a change from the usual distortion suggestions.

Go for a compressor like "Orange Squeezer" 8)

The Tone God

Think about a tremolo or maybe a simple wha. Or even mod a wha.

I think Nurse Quacky is a fairly simple, useful build. After 2 unboxed fuzzes, it will be the first pedal that I will actually finish. I just started this addictive hobby and was very pleased with the results. Also, hello everyone! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Some of my absolute favorite pedals as most of the folks know on here, is the up octave pedals. The Neoctavia, Simple Octave Up, and Bobtavia are all simple and great sounding. The Simple Octave Up and Bobtavia schematic, I have drawn out as EZ Build schematics over on the GGG, if you want to look there. The SOU might be my personal favorite of the group. I believe they all three use the same Radio Shack transformer. The other must build that's simple is Joe Davisson's Easy Drive. It's a very nice OD/distortion pedal, that you can change from OD to distortion with your guitar's volume knob. You can swap about any transistor in there of the same type (NPN I believe) to see what you like. I ended up with an OC140 germanium, but the designated Si tranny sounds good in there too. Just my 2 cents.

Tim Escobedos rambler is also very easy octave and great sounding too. Here is My vero layout and there is another layout made by draconfly in the gallery.
Here is the link to my layout, I have build this and it works.              http://img517.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ramblerlayout8gx.gif

Also be sure to look over http://www.runoffgroove.com and http://www.home-wrecker.com

Lot of options out there.  :icon_biggrin:

For more complex circuits, you can always just get a PCB from http://www.tonepad.com/ or http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/

Tons more options there too!  :icon_biggrin:

I second Joe's "Easy Drive"
That's a heck of a good overdrive for such a small parts count !!

The Dr Quack or Nurse Quacky are both good choices for a second project. Why?  Well, being a huge fan of envelope-controlled filters from way back (bought my MXR Envelope Filter in 1978 or so and persuaded the keyboard player in our band to buy himself a DR. Q the following year), I've noticed that they tend to be used by only a small segment of players, and even then only minimally used.  A cheap, quick and dirty route to having one's own auto-wah is a nice painless introduction to a very different style and mentality of playing for many folks; a horizon-expander.  Not exactly the current E-H Bi-Filter in terms of features or sound quality, but the DQ and NQ accomplish this with minimal fuss and cost.  Stick it ahead of your YAFF and you'll be sure to discover some interesting tones.

How about the Jordan Bosstone. My fastest build so far and one of my favorites.
