I've been thinking about building one of these over the summer, so its not going to be happening quite yet, but I'm doing my research right now.

Where can I buy a lm3886 chip?

Also, where can I get a power transformer for it?

I'm planning on using the pcb from GGG.

Parts Express is a good source for both.

I can't seem to find a bipolar transformer there...

Also, at GGG it says use a 18v, but I've heard people recommend 35v.  Whats that mean?

Could someone give me a link for a good one?

**edit**

Also, I'm going to need some sort of EQ/preamp before this circuit right?  Any suggestions?
I really only need a 3 band eq, real basic with treble, mid and bass.

You really should work your way up to this.

There is no such thing as a bipolar transformer.

There are center tapped and dual secondary tranformers(both of which can be had at Parts Express, put transformer in their search engine) and others. These can be used to build a bipolar(which includes a positive DC voltage, a negative DC voltage, and ground) power supply.

You will have to construct a supply for this amp, there is no wallwart for it.

Type "chipamp" into a search engine(like Google) and read everything you can find on the subject before you start.

Have Fun!

you should learn the basics of power supply design before you attempt to build this. its very dangerous!

also there is a total section about chipamps on http://www.diyaudio.com happy reading!

See, and this is why I'm doing my research now lol.

I figured there was no way I was going to jump into a big project like this.

Bipolar transformer is the way they worded the powersupple at ggg, I had no idea what they meant.

"This is a powerful amplifier based on the LM3886 or LM3876 IC. This little amp is capable of some massive sounds at up to 68 watts. You'll need 18 dc volt bipolar power."

Thanks for the links guys.
