Hey guys,

How do i go around making a PSU with isolated DC outputs like those on the commercial units?

How does the isolated DC output work?

See GEO 'Spyder", that may be what you're looking for.
I think GGG has power supply options...

Correct, Pete. The Spyder is one way to get there.

ej, an isolated DC supply is just that - isolated. There is no DC connection between the two outputs, although there can be and often is an AC connection. All the commercial isolated power supplies work like the Spyder - they are transformer isolated. That means that the AC current that supplies the parts that make DC and then regulate and filter is are powered either by separate transformer secondaries or separate transformers.

Ted Weber has a suitable transformer for making a Spyder-style power supply with 8 outputs. I think it's under $15 as I remember. Look up Weber speakers, or webervst.com.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
