Hi everyone

I couldnt find a PCB layout for the opamp muff anywhere, so I made one.
PCB should fit in a 1590B.

I was Working from Johans Rev Eng schematic from http://aronnelson.com/gallery/johan

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.nelson666/1977%20Opamp%20Muff.pdf

Its unverified, so any help verifying it would be cool.
I realised when I was looking at the PDF that the schematic sort of looks like FP's schematic drawing style (although a bit less perfect), this was purely accidental.

Enjoy

Very, very cool. Makes me wish I did PCBs myself. Hopefully JD Sleep and you can work out a deal to build the PCBs.

When I don't comment, I'm in awe  :)
But since you like comments  ;) : Do you draw those pcb layouts by hand or is there software that generates these curved traces?

I use MS visio. Toneman turned me on to it. Its just vector graphics. No auto-routing involved.

I like the "vintage" look.

Thanks for your comments  :)

Thanks Nelson. Had been toying with the idea of pcb layouts for the "Muff" series.

So your  :icon_question: means that you've not heard anything about these reissues?
I would think if they were real that you would have heard as connected as you obviously are.

..you can allways do it the backwards way..print the layout, glue it to the componentside, drill the holes, then turn it over and connect the holes with a charpie...then it's ready for etching...works quite well for small circuits like this one...

Fingernail polish(FNP) works much better than sharpie IMHO.
Much thicker....  ;D
Just use different sizes of artist brushes....   8)

Do as quoted above, drill all holes first...
Then "connect the dots"....with FNP.....
Then, Let it dry...it dries very fast......
Then,.. use back edge of xacto blade to scrape off excess FNP.
This way U can even do opamp pads..... :icon_exclaim:
As always, avoid touching the copper with your fingers(leaves oil).   :-\
I use latex gloves .....
I thought I saw an BMP opamp layout @ Munky's site   :icon_question:

Just checked, No opamp muff layout.

I have the monopoly on this one!

;D

I did search for a layout before doing this one.

There are the beginnings of the original official layout posted in the forum, but its too big.

fandabbydozey!

This is weird!  I was just chatting with toneman about whether he had any layouts for opamp fuzzes, he said he'd look, and you just saved him the time!

Ive seen most of your layouts, and I have to say the attention to detail is really great.  I'm still in awe of the ringstinger layout.  I cant even fathom how long that must have take to draw out.

keep on keepin on bro!
Try a little tenderness.

The ringer stinger layout was Markusw I have done stupidly wonderful Llama, EH Clone theory, EH Echoflanger, and this one.

Those are the ones I have posted.

sorry!  still, the clone theory is an awesome layout!  credit where credit is due!

Thanks!

While building this one I noticed the voltage divider for the 4558 wasnt grounded on the layout.  :icon_redface:

I have updated the PDF at the link at the top of the page and sent the corrected layout to be put up on Alex's site.

I still havent fired it up yet, so still unverified.

Zero the hero

I built it adding a jumper on the 220k resistor. I'll post the correct version as soon as possible.
It works very well and it seems way less noisy than the transistor version!
There are a couple of other considerations about this project: Paul, check your mailbox.
