Mobius Trip Clicking

Almost got this one.  It's working, but there's a loud clicking.  I've gone thru the wiring - the pots work OK, etc.
I installed the cap on the back between pins 12/13 and 28.  I'm using a non-polarized cap, if that makes any difference. You can hear how it sounds now here:

One question I do have is about a possible missing component:

There is nothing labeled, and I don't have anything there, but thought I'd ask.

I've wired it up like this:

The wires on the project are really long - could it be some kind of interference??

Anyways, any help will be great appreciated!

Thanks!!

Hi, I did the little bypass pic you have, behold my MSpaint masterpiece! :D

I don't think the bypass has anything to do with it. i have had mine wired this way w/ out any problems.

The little circle on the board that looks like a missing component is actually just an extra grounded pad so you can use a shielded jumper for that long one going to pin 20 on the ISD to the 0.1uf caps.

There is one more jumper you need to add under the board. from pins 5/6 to 12/13 on the ISD chip. If you use the search, its all in the big mobius thread.

I listened to your clip and I don't know what might be causing the clicking. does it click in REC mode AND PLAY mode, or just one or the other?
is the clicking all the same speed? did you use sockets for the IC's?

hope you get it going, it's a very fun pedal.

best of luck

Thanks for your reply, I.S.!

Did some more testing.  I do have all the off-board stuff wired.  I'm going to go thru the posts again just to make sure no pertinent nugget is lurking somewhere.  :-)  I reheated all the connections and looked for shorts.

It does NOT click in REC mode, only PLAY.  All the IC's are socketed, and I tried swapping them all out (besides the ISD100A) and no joy.

The clicking speed appears to vary.  In the posted clip, it's about 4.33hz.  Now it's faster, about 9.83hz.  Do these numbers ring any bells?  I actually might order another ISD from smallbear - I can always sell it if it doesn't fix the problem.  :-)

Oh, also, the LED's work fine, as does everything else...

Thanks again!

The Tone God

Is it clicking at the end of the sample ?

It clicks all the way thru the sample - as soon as you hit PLAY.

Here's the last sample I recorded to check the click frequency.

There's no guitar, but the clicks are the same with guitar.

Thanks!

Hi...

As mentioned in one of the threads and by Idiot Savant, make sure to install the jumper from pins 5&6 to 12&13.

Also, what are you using to power it?

Try wiring it direct, without the input/output signal bypass stuff. Input to input jack, Output to output jack, and separate SPST switches to control the logic.

Thanks, Dean.

I do have that jumper installed.

I'm powering it with a 9V battery.

I will rewire according to your specs and report back.

Thanks!

Reporting back.  Rewired with 2 simple switches.  Still had the same clicking.  I just replaced the ISD1020AP and the clicking is gone, but there's a fairly loud hiss.  The thing is unboxed with very long wires, so maybe that's the source of the hiss??

One thing I noticed was the mic input is floating.  Is this a possible source of hiss?  Probably not, but thought I'd ask.

Getting closer(?)...   :-\

Mine has a loud hiss when not recording or playing.  Is this the same as yours?  I really need to do the true bypass wiring to fix that.

snorky

Mine's quiet when it's not on - only hisses when playing.

I have the same problem with mine! there's a clicking in play mode, but no speed variation. all the jumpers are installed, switches are OK, LED works correctly! the only problem is that clicking at the output!
I used an ISD 2560 for this, and there's some differences with the dirty sam! pin 6 is connected to ground on the mobius trip, or it is connected to +5Vd on the dirty sam (push button mode). I'll try some modifications, but I need some help!
