Hello all

I want to spray a layer of protective glossy coat on my finished pedal; I've glued laser printed laser photopaper all around the aluminium box. My question is: what should I use? I found so many different stuff researching, I got a bit lost. The two contenders are

polyurethane spray

acrylic spray

I can't afford experimenting both... It doesn't need to be the most durable thing on the world, but it needs not to dissolve the laser printing...
Any other ideas? What's your advice?

Thanks a lot!

either

but use very thin coats, as to not make the laser finish run.

nice, thanks. I guess I'll end up trying both in the long run...
I'll refinish my box, I tried laminating it but the laminating plastic was repositionable  :)  not a good feature for an enduring fininsh...

I also use Krylon because it seemed to be recommended more than others when I began building my own pedals. It works for me.

Sorry to pick nits, but which Krylon? They supply both acrylic and polyurethane. Guess it's either indeed ;)
There are some paint combinations the "won't" work - they will have decreased adhesion between coats or crackle, but that last one can be very cool. There are some threads on crackle-painted boxes. if you use standard spraycans, it's usually one of either poly or acrylic, and as said, acrylic or poly will do fine.

Acrylic will be best, assuming it's not solvent-based acrylic (spray acrylic usually isn't).
Polyurethane, being solvent based, is more likely to make the toner run-its solvents include some components of lacquer, components in common to many toners
