power switch to pedal board

I need help with my first project.  Please concider I know nothing about pedal projects. However, I have some basic skills from altering guitar electronics. Here's the pedal project for which I would like tons of advice. I want to be able to switch the power supply for my pedalboard on and off and have a couple of leds showing the status on the switch. The power supply is a 9v 1.7amp wall wart plugged into an extension cord near my amp.  The power will be fed to the board through a mike cable in a snake. What type of stomp switch do I use? How do I hook up the leds to Make it look pretty? Most importantly how do I make it reliable?
