Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and thought I woulkd say hi with a report of my first build.

I built the ampeg scrambler based on the vero-board layout I found in 'Dragonfly-FX-layouts' which
is in the layout gallery, the board layout is by Andrew Carell, so thanks to everyone involved in
making that available.

I have to say it took a bit longer than I thought, but it was my first guitar FX, and the first time
I have done anything on this type of PCB. Still an evenings work had it all finished and to my
surprise it fired up first try. I don't have it in a box yet but I will get around to that soon and can post
a couple pics if anyone is inerested.

I have to say it isn't a sound I would be using all the time, it really is the sound of doom at some settings,
but you can get some interesting sounds out of it with careful adjustments and definately worth building.

Now I will move onto something like a neovibe I think. I don't suppose there is a vero-board layout
available for that? I think I will etc my first PCB for that project.

Congrats !!
Scrambler isn't the "easiest" of first projects, so well done :D
If you need a decent mild OD, why not build a "Tube Reamer"  www.runoffgroove.com   ?
That's a nice second project and was mine !  gets used a LOT !

Cheers,
Marty.

thanks, I have tinkered with electronics other than effects though, I think
I would have tried something simpler if I hadn't already built a few kits
and the like.

Thanks for the tip on the OD, I already have an ibanez ts-9 which I have modded to
be closer to the ts-808 and the sound samples of the tube reamer sound
very similar to my ears. I wish I had started building pedals before I
bought my ts-9. I might still try a tubescreamer type effect myself though.
I built a little valve preamp from a kit a while ago, useless for audio so
lucky I only built a single channel. But I might try to do something with it
to give me a tube preamp in a stomp box type setup, maybe have a low gain and
high gain option for valve OD.

I have boxed the scrambler in an aluminium case I got from 'Jaycar' here in
Australia, now and it sounds even better, very quiet operation on a 9V battery.

Just as a quick FYI:
http://www.indyguitarist.com/torchy is the folder for Torchy's layouts - it will soon be moved to Aron's Layout Gallery as well.

Take care,
Brian

I couldn't find a veroboard layout for a neovibe there. Can anyone point me
to it or another neovibe layout on veroboard?

thanks.
