are there any schems out there already for a distortion pedal where you can boost the treble/mids and bass before clipping, then cut the trebble/boost mids and bass after clipping?
it sounds like an easy enough design but i was more intrested in any designs that already do this.

Take a look at the Rat./Rodent over at GGG.  You will note that the op-amp gain stage has TWO resistor/capacitor paths to ground.  The 560R/4u7 path has a low-end rollof of about 60hz.  The 47R/2u2 combo has a low-end rolloff of just over 1500hz.  Because that combo has such a low resistance, it results in more gain being produced for the high end, than for the low end as you turn up the gain control.

Presumably, you can filter out whatever extra treble is added further down the pedal and signal path.  Pretty simple, huh?

If you were to stick a 2k2 resistor in series with a .022uf cap and place THAT in parallel with the existing 4k7/47nf combo in a Tube Screamer, you would effectively double the gain for content above 3.3khz, relative to the content below that point.

coooooooooool.
an unfinished rat clone is currently sitting next to me as a work in progress. lucky!
