Hi,
I just built ruby amp and have little problem with volume. I didn't have 10k pot so I used 220K audio pot with 10K resistor wired from lug 1 to lug 3 (it should reduce it's value to about 10K, right?) and when I connect lugs 2 and 3 of volume pot as specified if doesn't change volume at all, but when I ground lug 1 to input jack shield I get no sound at all no matter of how I set volume. Any ideas?
Thanks

I have the exact same thing, but a 100K pot.
It changes the volume from about 0-1.
The right resistor is what's needed.

It won't work that way..
the first column is the percentage of the rotation of the 220k pot, and if the pot was linear the column 'of 220k' is the resistance that is tuned in at that rotation. The resistor column is the constant 10k resistor across the pot.
'result' is the calculated resistance at that rotation.
You can see that in the first 10 percent the rotation that you go through 68% of the resistance that you need.
At 40 percent the rotation that you go through 90% of the resistance that you need.
And the last 60% of the rotation finishes up the 10% of the resistance that you need.

I don't know of any solution better than just getting the right pot.
