i don't really know why, because both ways work fine (depending on how you look at it).  but i like them on the left.  if i buy a pedal, i switch the jacks.

anyone else?

Great idea!

I am a leftie and I'm always tripping on my lead from the guitar to the right side of my pedalboard. Maybe I should mirror everything?  ;D

the more i think about it, the more i can't decide which would be better for me.
i know the main purpose of having the input on the right side is for clearance of your cord when "stomping."  but then, the main out cord have to double back around the board to go to the amp in the back.
this is pissing me off.

What do you mean by this? The guitar plugs into the right, the output is on the left and goes on your left to the amp. Of course anyone can route anything anyway they want.

i'm visualizing playing on the right side of a stage or whatever.  and having the amp behind me probably a little more to the right.  if the cord makes a straight path to the amp from the left side of the pedal board (which is in front of you), it will go right underneath you.  people usually just duct tape it to the floor.

it's pretty stupid to be analyzing this so much.

as nightowl said it is practical for lefthanded players,
EBS (swedish brand for bassamps and fx) had inputs on the left until they changed it some years ago

i like to be on left side of the stage (think jimmy page, angus young)  so i defenetly gotta have the input on the right so that i can move around altho i use a wireless so it should be that bad lol but i did change the FX Loop on my boss noise gate to make my pedal board look neat but in the end the best part of being a DIYer is to do whatever the "F word" you want!!
