So I am finally getting round to reporting on building this one.

I built this using the old layout before I updated it with all the mods.

It is distinctly different to the Small clone, it has more of a melancholic feel but it can get the "watery warble" going. I powered it from an 18v PSU. This version suffered from LFO ticking, not too bad but it was present. I modded it to include PS decoupling between the LFO and audio sections. This got rid of all the ticking.

The controls are standard depth and rate knobs plus a CH/vib mix which controls the volume of the dry guitar signal. It has a vibraflange switch which just adds feedback to the chorus and makes things sound "thicker", it also disconnects the wiper of the ch/vib pot making the dry a preset level.

It sounds great, adds a different soundscape and texture than the small clone. The feedback on a chorus was said by some to sound "terrible" however I disagree it makes the chorus sound thicker this is why I added the variable feedback mod so people could adjust it by taste.

I have since updated the PDF file. http://topopiccione.atspace.com/PJ12EHCloneTheory.html

This includes mods for stereo, variable feedback, delay time, mix + a double track switch and PS decoupling. The feedback mod needs to be changed, I drew it up wrong, however the delay time and double track mods have been verified to work by Analog Kid.

Here is a pick of my stock unit.

Anyway, its a great build different from the old favourite the small clone, its gets clearer brighter and has a more melancholic feel. The mix of wet and dry is a great feature, the gain of the delayed signal can be set up for a mild boost when engaged. I dont think any guitarist should be without one, with ALL the mods!

I'm waiting on some Copper Board and parts, this is getting bumped to the top methinks!!!
FWIW, there was a schem (quick search, you posted it!!!) with the sad1024, this had an 'edge' Switch...did you try this in your experiments???
I'm guessing it adds high end or something

I never bothered with the SAD1024 version. SAD1024 are scarce. I suppose I could have added the edge feature to this version, however by all reports at harmony central etc it was pretty pointless and just made the unit hiss more. The SAD1024A version was notoriously noisy too.

If you dont figure out the corrections to the feedback mod pm me and I will explain it. It was 2am when I drew it up and made a few silly beer induced mistakes. I have a problem with one of the 47ohm resistors with all the mods on the board, it smoked. May be a good idea to make it a 1/2w resistor. This may be due to the problems I am having with my PSU though.

I would update the PDF but I just cant be bothered jus now.

Build it!

Everything on that enclosure was accomplished with a dremel. It was sanded to that finish, then I used the engraving attachments to engrave the lettering on the enclosure before filling in the engravings with sharpie before sanding again.

You guys on this forum dont know a good chorus when it hits you on the arse.

I was blown away by the tonefrenzy samples!!  This pedal is on my list, Ive got the PnP printed, I've got the board cut out, I just need to finish your op amp muff, rebote 2.5 and then I can dedicate my time to clone theory.  Pretty soon I will be in peter hook/pretenders territory!  I promise

Try a little tenderness.
