I have here a schematic I pieced together a while back, half messing around with make schems in paint, half dreaming of someday installing this thing. It's basically the Electra distortion schematic modified for installation onboard a guitar. Basically, I added a "gain" pot and "Volume" pot to it, and also drew in all the jack connections and switch connections. However, I'm not sure I got it all right.. please take a look if you would and let me know if you see any problems:

Here's the original for reference:

Also, can anyone point me to some good onboard preamp or EQ circuits?

Thanks!

Your schematic shows a PNP transistor, but the partslist has an NPN. Which is correct?

If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it!

In another thread I posted my experience building two boosters for onboard usage -- the sekova/LPB1 and the DOD 201

http://www.elixant.com/~stompbox/smfforum/index.php?topic=40940.0

Both were very potent, and did exactly what I wanted them to - raise the output of a single coil to match the EMG HB.  I fed them power just by joining all the hots to the battery red, so nothing complex there.

I've been hoping for a good DIY onbaord-suited eq, but haven't seen anything really polished crop up.  But there are many projects out there you could piece together or just work through to get there.  Might just take some time.  Another route would be to add a tone stack (and there are lots of threads discussing that) to a booster circuit, and put that right before your output -- that should give you some eq control.

My other project, waiting for the temperatures to pick up so I can get back out in my garage, is to put  a GES Bad Trip in a buddy's guitar -- nice nasty distortion, and able to be built very small.

Cheers!

Cool, thanks lethargytartare, I might try one of those boosters, as I need something to beef of the stock neck pup on my tele (I cant replace it quite yet - i have to figure out how to get a screw with a badly stripped head out :( ).

Anyone see anything else amiss with my schem?
