This is an enclosure that Chad Hamilton sent me a couple (few?) months ago. I was undecided for a long time what to put in it, bit I finally decided to just put my Ibanez TS808 Clone in it that I built a couple of years ago. A few challenges, but nothing that couldn't be overcome. All in all, I think it turned out well. (There was plenty of room for everything to fit in there, too)

I'm not sure what kind of wood it is, but it has a nice grain pattern, so I didn't use any stain because I wanted it to really stand out. It's just a couple of coats of Formby's tung oil followed by a couple of coats of laquer. I sanded between coats.

Paul, that is a beautiful box! Congratulations.
I put a Sparkle Boost in one of Chadd's wooden boxes, and I'm really happy with the way it looks.

Thanks guys. Chad made the enclosure, I just prettied it up a little bit.  :icon_wink:
I do really like the grain pattern on it, it's kind like a flame maple in a way. The other thing that's cool about it is that it compliments my Parker Mojo Nitefly, which has a similar look to it.

The Grain is outstanding looking, excellent shape for a box, excellent look.
...nothing against Tung Oil, I have a bottle of it here, and have used it to get the 'lustre' look as it's called.
Thing is, on my bottle [not "Formby's"], is stated, once the oil touches the wood, no other finish types can be applied.
Tung Oil is just an oil IIUC that protects the wood and makes it 'lustre'...I don't know what formby's says about all that...just seems odd to me having laquer over oil.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Scrimp and save, stop eating out, etc. until you save enough money for one! I'll never go back to any other guitar.  :icon_cool:

Can I make a suggestion without being looked at as a big dick? I think that box is drop dead gorgeous and you did an awesome job placing and mounting everything but, IMHO, the actual knobs take away from the exotic-ness of that pedal. It's a PRS Private Stock quality custom box and it would be complete with some cream Davies or metal, brushed aluminum knobs. Gold even! It's that nice. Get a bag of knobs from Small Bear and try 'em all out.

Again, awesome job.

No worries, no offense taken. I guess I should have mentioned that some different knobs are on the horizon, I just haven't decided on what to use.  :icon_wink:

EDIT: I'm thinking that perhaps some kind of nice all black knob might work. Any opinions?

yeah, Paul!!  That is very nice inside fit and look!  :)

Is that tape in there for sheilding or some kind of sheet metal formed to the inside shape?   How is the noise level, (just as good as a aluminum hammond)?
How do you like the sloped front?  It must be nicer to step on the switch.

Is the guy you got it off selling these?  I would like to purchase some.

BTW, that is unique how you mounted the board!!

Thanks. It did work out pretty well.

It's basically aluminum duct tape. Where pieces join, I used regular staples to provide for a positive means of electrical continuity. The bottom is also shielded and it makes contact with the rest of the enclosure. It does a fine job of sheilding.

Honestly, I could take it or leave it. On my pedalboard, flat is actually better.

Chadd Hamilton sent me one for evaluation, etc. I am not sure if he intends to sell them, but I am sure that he could!

Necessity is the mother of invention.  :icon_wink:

EDIT: BTW, if Chadd chimes in, I sure would like to know what kind of wood it's made out of. It kind of looks like some kind of oak, but it didn't smell like oak when I was sanding it...  :icon_confused:

Wow, And I thought I was special to have traded some chestnut wood for a box for Chadd.
The Wood above is called "Canary" wood. It has a nice yellow color which looks great without a stain or colored finish.

Thanks Chadd!

I love that color...it looks a lot like my Godin Freeway-4. I dig it.

Even the font used compliments the boxes look, good choice.  Looks great!

I think you should go for a three tone sunburst on the next one... :icon_biggrin:
